Expeditions
Portland is not known for dark skies. Once or twice a year, members who can travel go somewhere darker to observe together. Everyone pays their own way, and every trip ends with a public report.

How we travel
Expeditions are planned by members, for members. Dates follow the Moon: we aim for the week around new Moon so that nights are dark. Where we observe near professional observatories, we follow the rules set by the people who look after those sites and stay out of restricted areas.
Our code of conduct applies on every trip, including how we use lights near other observers and how we behave in places that matter to local communities.
